*This blog overviews library updates relevant to the automotive industry. **[Full release notes](https://help.modelon.com/latest/release_notes/impact_2024_1/) can be accessed in the help center.*

*The updated libraries are available today for use in [Modelon Impact](https://modelon.com/modelon-impact/) and other Modelica-supported pl**atforms.*

Modelon consistently delivers high-quality models and robust simulations to OEMs and automotive suppliers worldwide. Our new library content reflects Modelon’s continued commitment to revolutionizing engineering design and simulation.

##### Enhanced EV Integrated Thermal Management

As battery electric vehicles steadily increase their share of new vehicle sales, Modelon is committed to developing software to model complex integrated thermal systems. Recently added library content focuses on improvements in the modeling and simulation of integrated thermal management systems typical in EVs, such as heat pumps and integrated refrigerant-coolant systems for climate control and battery thermal management.

The Air Conditioning Library features a new SBTL model for CO2 with improved robustness, particularly around the saturation line. Additional model updates within the library improve Modelon Impact’s ability to generate analytical Jacobians with benefits for zero flow and compressor-off scenarios. The receiver model is also improved with enhanced specification for outlet quality and desiccant volume.

##### Sizing EV Components for Dynamic and Steady-State Simulation

With the latest release, the Electrification Library allows users to size components (including electric motors, battery packs, cables, etc.) based on their operation requirements in a system. Additionally, this release comes with examples and workflows for sizing such components. The example models and workflows support dynamic and steady-state simulations.  These models facilitate system architecture assessments where weight considerations are crucial to system attribute tradeoffs.

**New Electrification Library content related to connections, sizing, and system architecture.**

The updated Electrification Library also improves electrical connectors, making it easier to build models. The DC connectors are easier to use.  In addition, there is no need to configure grounding, though it is still possible.

##### FMU Export for Driver-in-the-Loop Simulation

Modelon’s Vehicle Dynamics Library has expanded its Driver-in-the-Loop capabilities. Coupling with the simulation environment, rFpro, real-time Driver-in-the-Loop simulation is now possible with vehicle models from the Vehicle Dynamics Library. Users can access a template to export vehicle models as Functional Mockup Units (FMUs) and the Physics Plugin inside rFpro to import the model as an FMU.

The latest release represents another step forward in making system simulation accessible.

For teams developing integrated thermal and electric vehicle systems, Modelon’s libraries continue to provide robust simulation capabilities that enable better automotive design decisions.

Modelon invites you to explore the upgraded libraries and experience features that push system design and simulation forward.
