Modelon offers a range of products related to real-world solutions for model based systems design and simulation. We work with products from carefully selected partners, in combination with products that we have developed in-house. Our product portfolio for model-based engineering is centered around Modelica and FMI technologies.

MODELICA® is an open, object-oriented, equation-based language designed to conveniently model complex physical systems containing, e.g., mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, thermal, control, electric power or process-oriented sub-components. Components and system models are available in open and commercial model libraries.

Modelon works with a range of companies world-wide to develop and employ Modelica models for product development.

We also develop and license our own Modelica compiler  - OPTIMICA Compiler Toolkit, develop a number of commercial Modelica libraries, and are resellers of the Modelica tool Dymola on the Nordic market. 

FUNCTIONAL MOCK-UP INTERFACE (FMI) is a vendor neutral standard for model exchange and co-simulation of dynamic models on the system and component level.

It addresses a critical pain point in model based engineering, namely the ability to share models between tools and to deploy models across the enterprise. The standard enables reuse of the same model portfolio in different stages of the development process, and it is currently supported by more than 60 CAE tools.

FMI is a core component for Modelon in providing value to our customers. With FMI, plant models developed by experts in advanced simulation tools can be reused across the organization by teams using standard desktop tools. Modelon provides toolboxes for using FMI in MATLAB/ Simulink® and Excel. We also develop customized solutions to integrate FMI seamlessly into any workflow.
