The Code of PLM Openness (CPO) program for interoperability certification is developed by the ProSTEP iViP Association under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs (BMWi).
CPO’s mission is to support the challenges related with this effort. The technological challenge is to establish interoperability, the political one is to create confidence in the simple application of the systems.
Modelon joined the CPO initiative already very early in 2012, as a validation of its steady policy of openness in technological standards.
Modelon will be active in this program on the line of the Functional Mock-Up Interface (FMI) and Modelica products families that it develops: FMI Toolbox for MATLAB/ Simulink, FMI Add-On for Excel and OPTIMICA Compiler Toolkit.
“The German industry relies on the fact, that smart products and services can be offered and applied globally. With regard to this, interoperability is the key. A certification assures trust with regard to the broad application of information and communication technology (ICT), removes technological barriers and boosts the power of the German economy” states Sigmar Gabriel, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy.
