Dr. Hubertus Tummescheit, Modelon Inc. CEO and a Modelica Association Board Member, and Steve Coy of computer simulation company TimeLike Systems, will participate in a panel discussion on analysis, simulation and systems engineering software at Congress on the Future of Engineering Software (COFES 2015).
Their presentation will focus on how component-based modeling and simulation makes it possible to combine heterogeneous components and effects models in an automated and reliable way.
As technology advances, many of the kinds of systems we need to engineer, from automobiles to household products, are rapidly becoming increasingly complex, and also interact with one another in increasingly complex ways. An individual system can no longer be engineered in isolation, but instead needs to be engineered to work within the context of a larger “system of systems”. These kinds of challenges will require significant advances in the area of component-based modeling and simulation that will make it possible to combine heterogeneous components and effects models in an automated and reliable way, so that the resulting composite system models can then be used with confidence for model-based design, analysis, and optimization.
