Announcing Dymola 2016 FD01

We are pleased to introduce Dymola 2016 FD01 with exciting new features and libraries

Dymola 2016 FD01 has been released on November 25, 2015. The key highlights are:

Modeling and simulation

Support for the Scientific Data Format (SDF), using the portable HDF5 storage format, makes simulation results easy to process in other tools. Additionally, user-defined post-processing commands can be executed after simulation, facilitating customized processes for managing experiments and simulation data.

Functional Mockup Interface

Simplified and more flexible FMU import in Dymola supports both FMI 1.0 and 2.0 in the same model.

Tools to export and import FMUs into Simulink models increase the application of FMI. Support for both co-simulation and model exchange (FMI 1.0 & 2.0) maximizes interoperability.

See the related release announcement of the Modelon FMI Toolbox for MATLAB/Simulink version 2.2.

Modelica library updates

The latest release of Pneumatics Library 1.8 includes, via the new subpackage, Pneumatics.Elements, a comprehensive set of geometry based pressure drop models for minor and major pneumatic losses.

Recent developments in Vehicle Dynamics Library 2.2 have been focused on improved ground interaction with new models: new mounted ride strut and planar wheel/ground contact filtering.

Simulations with little or no mass flow are now enabled in Air Conditioning Library 1.10 and 1.11.

Heat Exchanger Library 1.3 and 1.4 include now configurable plate heat exchangers and condensers with built-in receivers.

With the last releases of Hydraulics Library 4.2 and 4.3, and the new modeling capabilities for thermo-hydraulics, it is easy to see the influence of the thermodynamic effects, since they can be switched off directly in the oil parameter-interface.

New in Dymola, the Battery Library enables modeling of battery cells and battery packs for automotive, industrial equipment and process applications.

In the automotive field, the new Engines Library supports modeling of SI and CI engines using mean value and crank angle resolved model alternatives. This allows the user to make an easy trade-off between simulation speed and model accuracy.

The Human Comfort Library which was introduced in Dymola 2016 has been extended with a CFD-based air model for even greater versatility.
