Work description

Modelon is seeking a motivated experienced Simulation Engineer. The candidate will be supporting our customers’ product development with simulation expertise for system simulations, especially for automotive applications. The position also includes development of simulation software, where the candidate will provide application expertise, and joint activities with Modelon’s sales team.

The position requires a balanced mix of technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.


The candidate should have industry experience from product development using system simulation and optimization. The position requires attention to quality, documentation and customer focus.

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a related field, preferred in Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronic
  • Relevant industry experience
  • Experience in system simulation, such as Dymola or Amesim
  • Other simulation experience is a merit, for example with Abaqus, Adams, Ansys, Fluent or Simulink
  • Experience from product development in the automotive industry is a merit
  • Communication skills and the ability to interact well with others

Work description

As a Software Engineer, you will be contributing to architecture, design, development and testing of the Modelon software products and tools. We expect you to be an active member of the development team; sharing knowledge and working with continuous improvement of work methodologies and environment.


You are an experienced Java programmer and team player with high ambitions to grow your expertise as a programmer in general and within compiler development.

Required skills and experiences

  • Demonstrated skills in solving complex programming problems with optimized performance   
  • Ability to deliver efficient and reusable code that can be understood and maintained by others
  • Solid programming experience working with Java
  • Experience from development in Python

Desired skills and experiences 

  • Experience with build systems (Ant, Maven) and continuous integration infrastructures
  • Experience from compiler development
  • Experience in version control systems such as SVN and Git
  • Experience from software quality improving methodologies such as test driven development, code review, system/integration testing etc.
  • Experience from agile development methodologies

Work permit

Business Development Manager


This position is market-facing, responsible for discovering and winning commercial opportunities within a defined set of accounts, industry sector(s) and territory, representing the complete portfolio of Modelon products and services. This position can be based at our headquarters in Lund, Sweden, at our field offices in Germany (Hamburg and Munich); we are also open to other European locations.

Role description

The Business Development Manager builds high trust relationships with clients and colleagues, actively uncovering, and winning, sales opportunities that match Modelon solutions. You will be assigned accounts within a defined industry sector(s) and territory, you will also respond to inbound leads. You will aggressively qualify and advance opportunities by working in partnership with Modelon’s marketing, sales admin, Services and Application Engineering teams. You will independently qualify leads, drawing support from Modelon domain experts at the right time. For services opportunities, you will work with Modelon’s Services team to ensure program success from start to finish.

When with customers you are the voice of Modelon; when with colleagues you are the voice of the customer.

Responsibilities and Measurables:

You will be responsible for:

  • managing sales opportunities for Modelon products and services from lead to closure
  • building a strong understanding of Modelon solutions, benefits and differentiators
  • supporting marketing events and marketing content creation
  • nurturing customer relationships via regular communication and onsite visits
  • generating leads by self-directed research, networking and customer dialogue
  • entering and accurately maintaining pipeline data
  • ownership of new Services opportunities from Tollgates 0 (lead qualification) through Tollgate 1 (proposal delivery)
  • ownership and delivery of differentiated proposals that meet the client’s requirements and deliver substantial value to Modelon
  • ensuring proper license agreement / contracts are in place (contract negotiation, approval and document tracking will be handled in partnership with sales admin)
  • negotiating and closing deals
  • identifying and chasing follow-on opportunities

Success in this role will ultimately be measured by achieved sales volume. Pipeline growth, conversion rate, and customer satisfaction will also be important performance metrics.

Marketing Director


The Marketing Director holds ultimate responsibility for Modelon’s marketing activities and oversees the development and delivery of an integrated brand, market and communication strategy. This position reports to Modelon’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Role description

The Marketing Director defines Modelon’s brand and market strategy including its research, planning, execution, and measurement.

The Director leads and manages the marketing team, external resources, and annual marketing budgets to ensure Modelon’s brand, marketing, and communication initiatives are delivered. You will expand and refine Modelon’s market presence and visibility so that prospects, customers, and employees clearly understand who we are, what we do, and our unique advantages. You will collaborate productively with Modelon’s business development, product strategy, software development, and engineering services teams to achieve company goals. You will provide a compelling vision, a determination to succeed, and the ability to direct resources to meet agreed priorities. 

Responsibilities and Measurables:

You will:

- Lead Modelon’s short-term and long-range brand, marketing, and communication programs and initiatives.

  • Setting, communicating and status updates of quarterly and annual priorities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive brand strategy.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy to increase Modelon’s reputation and recognition by target customer segments globally.
  • Develop and implement a strategy and targets for owned, paid and earned media campaigns.
  • Develop and implement the go-to-market strategy for new products, including events, digital marketing, and PR.

- Collaborate with other teams within Modelon to provide marketing services and customer intelligence.

Direct the planning and development of compelling marketing collateral, in collaboration with Modelon’s business development team.

  • Provide market trend analysis and feedback to influence and improve present and future products.
  • Manage and hold accountable the marketing team from daily activities to quarterly planning to long-term vision and team development.
  • Plan and direct appropriate staffing, process, and budgets to achieve Modelon priorities.
  • Manage and develop marketing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, planning, monitoring and appraising employees. Ensure the team has guidance and resources needed to perform their tasks to the standards of the organization.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Success in this role will ultimately be measured by inbound qualified lead volume and output relative to assigned key initiatives.
